Difference between Linux and Windows Server

Hi!! I am a Server Management Expert work at Server management Company in India
Here I am going to list out some major difference between the Linux and Windows Server were given:
Linux is a Unix-like and POSIX-compliant computer operating system assembled under the free open source software development and distribution. The Linux kernel, an operation system kernel is the defining component of Linux.

Microsoft windows is a series of graphical interface operating systems developed, marketed and sold by Microsoft.
Microsoft introduced windows on 20th November, 1985 as a graphical operating system shell for MS-DOS.
1.  Full access vs. no access:
Having the access of source code is the major difference between the Linux and Windows server. Linux belongs to the GNU public License which ensures that the users can access the full code and can do alteration in it to the very kernel that serves as the foundation of Operation System.
Some people say giving full access of code to public can let to the malicious effects on code and it will become the weakness of developers. Other people say, giving full access can bring faster improvements and fix bug also.
But in case of Windows, public cannot access the code and there would be no malicious effects on the code.

Hyper V Windows 10 Support
2. Development, Distribution & Manufacturer:
Linux is Open source development which is developed through sharing and collaboration of codes and features through forums etc. and then it is distributed in different vendors.
As Linux kernel is developed by the community.
Where Windows is developed and manufactured by Microsoft.
3. Threat detection and solution:
Removing bugs or error is easy in Linux, as it is open source so when any user post any kind of threat, many developers start working on it from the different parts of the world, immediately. Therefore, it is easy and fast to remove the threat from Linux.
Whenever threats detect in Windows, the Microsoft releases a patch that can fix the error or problem in 2/3rd months or less than it. Sometimes all the errors fix early, Microsoft releases patches and updates it weekly.
4. Command line vs no command line:
No matter from where the Linux operating system has come and how amazing it is, one thing which no can forget is the command line will always remain an individual tool. No one can imagine using the Linux without the command line.
Windows also have command line tools but not that much beautiful like Linux. Microsoft have a command prompt for users. Without going to Run and entering the cmd, the user won’t be able to know that command-line tool exists.
And if the user have no idea about the command line of windows is, then how it is useful?
5. User experience & Graphics performance:
In Linux there are many GUI applications, most of the work is done through terminal (A console window), if by chance a problem raise, then GUI usually can’t fix it. In Windows, everything is controlled by GUI and fortunately the problems are rare or less.
Linux contains hardware manufactures like NVidia, which do not provide the documentation for Linux developers, drivers won`t be able to use the full graphics card performance. Windows is combined with the newest DirectX versions and support full card graphics performance.

6. Default user interface, Source and update method:

Linux default user interface is depends on distro i.e. Gnome OR KDE, in windows the default user interface is graphical (Windows Aero).
Linus source model is basic terminal (CLI), in windows the source model is MS-DOS
All the updates done in Linux by many methods because it is opens source, while in windows all updates done by Microsoft only.
7. Gaming and examples:
In linux, few games are available. Some games are played through Wine, but not all features are available. But In windows, almost all games are available. Some CPU intensive and graphics intensive are exclusive to Windows PC`s.
Examples of Linux: Ubunto, Red Hat, Fedora, Debian, Archlinux, Android, Peach, OSI etc.
Windows: Windows 10, 8, 8.1, 7, vista, XP
8. File Supporting System and Cost:
Linux supports: Ext2, Ext3, Ext 4, Ifs, ReiserFS, Xfs, BTRFS, FAT, FAT32, NTFS.
Windows supports: FAT 32, NTFS, exFAT.
Cost for Linux: Linux can be distributed & downloaded freely through magazines, Books etc. Prices are available for Linux versions, but obviously they are cheaper than Windows.
Cost for Windows:  Price for windows is $119-$199.99, $69 for students, $99 to upgrade to pro.
9. Security:
Linux version Peach has more than 70-100 virus listed till date. But none of them are spreading nowadays.
According to Dr.Nic Peeling and Dr. Juilan Satchells “Analysis of the Impact of Open Source Software” there are more than 60,000 viruses in Windows. And anti-virus cost you about $50 to $ 500 as an annually fee for security or protection.
10. Usage:
Linux can be installed on a wide variety because it is open source, its usage in in computer hardware, ranging from netbooks, mobile phones, tablet computers and video games consoles, to mainframes and super computers.

Windows is used in PC`s desktops, laptops, servers, and some phones.

Why it is Important to Hire a Server Management Company.

In this digitalized era, virtual world has over take the physical world and this is happened because of technology. Now, one can get connect to a person who is sitting thousands of miles away or can buy desired products by just sitting at home. Facebook and Flipkart are the best example for this. However, for both Facebook and Flipkart, the most crucial thing is to manage servers.

Remember, Flipkart had a server problem for a 2-3 hours on their mega sale day and they missed millions of dollar business. We can conclude from this example that server is the backbone of virtual world.

So from above, I hope that it is clear that it is very crucial to manage servers. However, do we need do to hire a company for this?

Well, keeping the importance of server in mind, it is always advisable to hire a company who has experience with various types servers.
Reduced Operating Costs

An IT company owner already has a lot of daily expenses to manage. Hiring full time server admins for server management would an extra added expense for the company. cPanel Hosting vs. Cloud Hosting

cPanel Hosting vs. Cloud Hosting

Strength lies in differences, not in similarities. - unknown

If you're looking for web hosting, you will find the two major hosting platform options are Cloud and cPanel hosting - but not sure which one is best and right for yours website? If you're not sure how to find out answer the common question "what is the difference between cPanel and Cloud hosting?” take the time to read this article and don't you worry about the hosting selection I have broken down differences of both hosting platforms below.

What is Web Hosting?

In simple words, web hosting is basically a space or location on hosting server required for storing your website database.

Cpanel Hosting:

cPanel is well known, cheap and widely used web hosting platform and mainly used by small business and individuals. It is most popular control panel of the world and provides a very easy to use platform. It give user-friendly interface that allows you to easily manage your domains, website, FTP, email, and much more. It also allows you to host several domain names from the one control panel by just simply using its Add-on Domain features. You do not need of any technical knowledge for handling cPanel Hosting. cPanel is usually installed on a standalone server .Most cPanel systems are very reliable.

Cloud Hosting:

Cloud Hosting is rapidly developing technology works on the cloud server. It is widely used because it offers scalability, flexibility, reliability and cost reduction. In web hosting 'Cloud' means that all web hosting services (DNS, email, website, ftp, and database) run on multiple servers rather than a traditional single server. In case if server is fail or goes down will not cause any issue for your website because other server will take care of this failure. It is much faster and more responsive than cPanel hosting options. However, due to the nature of Cloud-hosted infrastructure, each domain you have will require a separate Cloud package purchased to host it. Cloud web hosting is ideal for mission critical business websites, sites where traffic may spike suddenly, or sites where speed and reliability are of the utmost importance.

Extreme Reliability:

In compare to cPanel which is tied to one piece of hardware, the Cloud hosting is clustered over multiple servers, run from multiple locations. There is no single point of failure. But in case of cPanel hosting if your server failed all of your website is goes down.

Scalability and Flexibility:

One of the key benefits of hosting on the Cloud server is its scalability and flexibility. You can add n number of server in cluster. Cloud hosting is much more flexible than other hosting options.

Linux and Windows Hosting:

With cloud platform you can switch between both Linux and Windows server. And you can also easily run both Linux and Windows simultaneously in hybrid mode. You can easily manage both php and ASP websites in one control panel. cPanel also provide the same functionality to its users.

Technology:

Cloud hosting always adopting new technical features to keep up to date with the change in the business environment. While cPanel uses the default and standard Apache configuration or it can use other if configured by the web host provider.

Yes I know it is always very difficult to choose right hosting server but don’t worry YourServerDoctor.com offers several different Cloud Hosting and cPanel web hosting packages. If you would like to speak to someone about the best option for you, we have expert support staff available at all times to answer your questions.
